Pepsi has re-branded. When I first saw the new brand last week, I hoped it was a rumor, but turns out they were actually stupid enough to do THIS to their logo and cans. I will say no more. No evaluation or designer talk, if u want some analysis of the new brand go to Brand New.
As for me, I will show you the bottles and cans, and what disgusts me the most, the change that was made to the Mountain Dew logo… MD is my ultimate addiction and it would be painful to look at a can/bottle that looks like THIS everyday… It has just lost its spirit.
My only hope is that this change doesn’t actually go to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, as it is known that these things differ between continents. Lets hope MOUNTAIN DEW still looks THE SAME here… I would like to have my Mountain Dew, not Mtn Dew… wtf is Mtn anyways???
They also sent a pretty cool video with their logo history over the past 110 years, to promote the new piece of shit. Watch it here.
I will stop now. This is making me sick.
Just popped into my mind: The weird resemblance to theROTANA logo!!! This Rotana logo has been used for years now. I know its not copied because Rotana is an Arab company, but the resemblance is freaky!
I have a terrible urge to try out one of the nastiest places that make “food” in the weird town of Manial here in Cairo… Does this look very fatal? Because it looks to me that if I end up trying it out, I’ll have an ambulance ready for me at the door, and I want it to be one of those new fancy Ministry of Health Volkswagen ambulances… xD
By the way, the Volkswagen T5 was voted international van of the year 2007 & 2008. That’s pretty awesome! I just can’t get over the weird color, why in the world would an ambulance be orange/green??
So back to the weird ass restaurant… Its called 3ANTAR EL KABABGY for crying out loud!! I know someone that will do the experiment with me… Khalilson, you in? Update: He’s In! Anyone else??

Best Buy and Geffen Records announced that one of the most highly anticipated albums of all time, Guns N’ Roses’ “Chinese Democracy”, will be hitting stores on November 23 at Best Buy and BestBuy.com on CD, vinyl, and digital downloads.
The title track, the first single from the album, was released to radio a couple of days ago, October 22. “Chinese Democracy” has been more than a decade in the making, since the first album of new material from one of rock’s most influential bands since the 1991 simultaneous releases of “Use Your Illusion I” and “Use Your Illusion II”.This makes it probably the highest anticipated album of all time!
“The release of ‘Chinese Democracy’ marks a historic moment in rock n’ roll,” said co-managers Irving Azoff and Andy Gould. “We’re launching with a monumental campaign developed by Gary Arnold and the Best Buy team that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. Guns N’ Roses fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning.”

We’re thrilled to be able to announce that ‘Chinese Democracy’ is coming, it’s coming this year, and it’s coming to Best Buy.”
Produced by Axl Rose and Caram Costanzo, the album, which will be released on Black Frog/Geffen Records, includes 14 tracks. “Shackler’s Revenge” debuted September 14 through the Rock Band 2 videogame and “If The World” can be heard in the film “Body Of Lies“, which premiered on October 11.

Metal accord is doing it again, an all new offer in a heavy metal/hard rock concert… ever!!
Important note: The tickets for the concert are sold at the gates, so you buy your ticket at the doors of the venue. Trying to book will NOT get you a free DVD, because there is no booking available.
Metal Accord organizers decided to give a free DVD featuring never-before-seen footage of the past concerts held in Cairo since the year 2000. Music videos, special features, you can actually catch up with every concert you haven’t attended before. The DVD features the best of the best of the Egyptian and Middle Eastern bands that have performed at Metal Accord, Rock Station, and other associated concerts throughout the past 8 years.
So who gets the DVD?
Only the first 50 people to show up at the venue will get the free DVD. If you want the DVD… you better RUN! I’m pretty sure there will be a race down the streets of Cairo to Mansouria, where the concert will be held.

Ass Buster did it once again… another exclusive interview that made some things kind of clearer…
This time its with Jordan Whelan from the recently broken up Still Remains
Still remains was and will always be one of my (and Ass Buster’s) favorite bands, I heard about their break up in June, about a month late, and I still can’t get it into my mind…
Ass Buster: Still Remains is one of my all time favorite bands, they blend the European extreme sounds of metal with some of the most melodic American sing alongs and hardcore moments, creating a sound so distinct and easily called Their OWN !
With TJ’s soaring growls, Mike’s melodious singing, and Jordan’s signature riffing which every Still Remains fan thanks him for…
The three remaining members of the band along with newcomers Bone, Steve and Ben released what would be their last album ! “The Serpent”.
When I First read the news that the guys are splitting up I was shocked (screamed like a little girl that just saw her barbie doll’s head get ripped off by her older brother)
My first impression when i heard The Serpent …I’d have to say I was surprised and needed to listen to it a few times to let it sink it, because the band took a different approach to their sound on it like a “Fresher Sound” but still maintaining their signature blend, but after a few listens “Aniemia in You Sheets”, “Wax Walls Of An Empty Room”, “Stay Captive”, “Dance with The Enemy” “Dropped From A Cherry Tree” where all tracks on repeat.
A while after the video release of “Dance With The Enemy” the band stated on their myspace that they will be playing their last tour and that after it Still Remains will in fact go their separate ways… for a long time I was curious as to what is going on with the guys till i got a response from the ALMIGHTY Jordan Whelan, I’ve been dying to know about his upcoming projects and any sort of recordings he’s got in the works… so got the chance to catch up with Jordan and ask him about life after Still Remains, the reason the guys split up, upcoming projects and MORE !!
Yes! The Hard Rock band HeadQuake will be performing in mid-November live in Egypt as a part of their 2008 tour. The tour will include 3 concerts in Egypt, sponsored by the Hilton Family of Hotels, with several days separating the gigs:
1. Cairo (Nile Hilton – Jazz Up) – 13/11/2008 at 11pm
2. Sharm El Sheikh (To Be Announced)
3. ElGouna (To Be Announced)
HeadQuake is an Alternative Rock band formed in Athens, Greece in the early 90’s by members of well known bands of international fame such as: Villa 21, Melting Ashes, Spiders Web, Raw, Jesus Toy, No Way Out, Lazy Suns & Black Static. They have released various albums including contributions to Metal Hammer compilations, underground/self produced albums, and under labels like Sony Music and their debut album last year under Sound Effect Records… The CD will be available for sale in Egypt by November, along with the band’s merchandise…
After the cancellation of Vader’s concert last April, this will be the first international Rock/Metal act to be held in Egypt since then… and for a very long time as a matter of fact…
The Metal Reporter(formerly Ass Buster) and Infliktora will be hooking you guys up with an Spotlight: Exclusive Interview with HeadQuake as soon as they land in Cairo… so stay tuned for more! And for now, I’ll leave you with a fan video made from a live recording of “Make It Real”…
Metallica had the following news for their southern California fans:
“As you may have heard, the owners of the Los Angeles Forum have a little issue with our friends from Lamb of God, so unfortunately they will not be joining us for the two shows at the Forum on December 17 and 18.
“That’s the bad news… the good news is that our bros in Machine Head are rushing back to the States from Europe to step in on those two nights. And of course no show would be complete without The Sword kicking things off, so they’ll be there too.”
Lamb of God was previously banned from performing at the church-owned (then-named) Great Western Forum in April of 2005 on the Subliminal Verses tour with Slipknot because church leaders were offended by the group’s previous name, Burn the Priest.
Effective of today, Saturday, and after the last time they raised the prices of Pepsi products 2 years back, they’re doing it again…
This time the raise is less, and it really doesn’t affect me, but Egyptians literally live on Pepsi (not Coke) and its products, and to a lot of the middle class / poor people, this is big… it really affects people that buy in bulk…
The system in Egypt is that 2 companies manufacture Pepsi;
Pepsi Egypt and Bughshan (a Saudi company)…
Pepsi Egypt makes the returnable glass Pepsi bottles with all its sizes and varieties, this tastes like shit and is almost half the price of the non returnable plastic bottles and cans (made by Bugshan). The new price raise will affect all, adding 25p to every bottle or can, on all types (returnable and disposable).
So for example 350ml cans are now for 2.15 LE (instead of 2LE or 1.85 in hypermarkts) , and 350ml returnables are for 1.15LE (instead of 1LE – not available in hypermarkets), 2L returnable is for 2.50LE and disposable for 5.50LE…
This raise applies to all Pepsi products in Egypt (except Aquafina water), including:
- Pepsi (Normal, Diet and Max)
- Mountain Dew
- 7up
- Mirinda (all flavors)
Ladies, Gentlemen and Pepsi Addicts, welcome to Egypt :S
I was considering a blog redesign this morning before I went to sleep, and the next thing I know I have a whole new blog!! Yes, its all new, all fresh, and just what I needed right now for my come-back. Within the next few days I will be adding more pages to the blog, and announcing new sections too…
This isn’t the usual face-lifting I always did, this is big! I have restored the evilness of the blog after my friend Khalilson pointed out that the last face-lift was way too happy with the pink and light green colors, so we’re back to red and grey for a while, hope you like it…
And another announcement, Thanks to Rebellious Arab Girl for reminding me, I finally moved to WordPress! I got sick of the blogger, and its not like I can’t design a whole blog for myself, I’m just way too busy to maintain it… so I go with the ready made stuff. I’ve already had a wordpress account with the name but I never used it, and here comes the time when I actually do. The old blog will remain there, but this post will be the last on it…
So goodbye blogger, although it had awesome features like changing the font without having to edit the CSS or HTML codes everytime (while the heading font is unchangeable in WordPress so don’t blame me for that), and its awesome speed in browsing the dashboard and writing posts… But hello WordPress with all the aweosome widgets and themes, I’m loving it already!
